Costs of home care
For many families, in-home care is a personal and affordable alternative to a nursing home. The costs always depend on the individual situation, the level of care required, and the caregiver's language skills and experience.
Senioris24 helps families find suitable caregivers for in-home care – transparent, predictable and without hidden costs.
Monthly care costs typically start at around €1,800 and can vary depending on the level of care required.
Many families can also take advantage of government benefits and tax benefits to significantly reduce their own contribution.
Transparent cost structure
When care is provided in one's own home, the costs are usually made up of several components.
Monthly care fee
The caregiver receives a monthly fee for her work.
The exact height depends on several factors, including:
•the individual care needs
•the German language skills of the caregiver
•experience and qualifications
•the scope of tasks in everyday life
• the duration of the deployment
The fee is agreed directly between the family and the caregiver.
Transport costs
Transportation costs will be incurred for the caregiver's arrival and departure.
These costs typically amount to up to €180 per journey.
Should the actual costs be lower, only the actual amount will of course be charged.
Transportation can either be organized by the caregiver themselves or arranged jointly. In either case, billing is based on appropriate documentation.
Utilizing government support
Many families are unaware that they are entitled to various forms of financial support when childcare takes place at home.
Depending on the level of care required, the following services, among others, can be used:
Care allowance
People requiring care who have a recognized care level receive a monthly care allowance from their long-term care insurance provider. This money is freely available to the family and can be used to organize care.
The amount depends on the level of care required. Depending on the level of care required, you will receive between €316 and €990 per month – completely legally and without any red tape.
Respite and short-term care
If family members require temporary support, additional benefits from long-term care insurance can be used.
These services can be combined and provide financial relief of several thousand euros per year. From care level 2 onwards, you can claim up to 8 weeks of respite or short-term care per year – for example, if family members are unavailable.

During this period, the care allowance continues at 50%. A total of up to €3,539 per year can be claimed.
Tax advantages
In many cases, in-home care can be claimed as a tax-deductible household-related service.
This allows families to receive up to €4,000 per year in tax refunds.
Home care – often more affordable than you think
Through the combination of:
•Care allowance
• Benefits of long-term care insurance
•tax advantages
The actual out-of-pocket expenses for many families are significantly reduced..
